چکیده
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) has been strongly associated with single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the TCF7L2 gene. This study investigated association between rs12255372, rs7903146 gene and T2DM a Ghanaian population. A case-control design was used for this study. total of 106 patients 110 control participants were selected. Basic data collected included body mass index, blood pressure socio-demographics. Fasting samples processed for: serum lipid analysis, plasma glucose estimation HbA1c estimation. Parts whole DNA extraction using modified salting-out method. Common allele-specific primers designed genotyping Modified Tetra-Primer Amplification assay. Associations evaluated logistic regression models. The risk variant significantly 2.16 vs. 4.06 increased odds <60 years ≥60 years. Both rs12255372 women, overweight/obese, negative family history (T2DM-NFH) low-HDL-C. In multivariate model, but not 2.18, 5.01 2.25 T2DM, under codominant, recessive additive respectively (p < 0.05). is more highly subgroup—women those T2DM-NFH, yet who have cardiometabolic risk.

Association between transcription factor 7-like 2 genetic polymorphisms and development of type 2 diabetes in a Chinese population.
We conducted a hospital-based case-control study to evaluate the relationship between the transcription factor 7-like 2 (TCF7L2) rs7903146 polymorphism and type 2 diabetes mellitus risk in a Chinese population. Genotyping of TCF7L2 rs7903146 was carried out using the polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism method. A chi-square test revealed a statistically significant...
متن کاملNon-Association between rs7903146 and rs12255372 Polymorphisms in Transcription Factor 7-Like 2 Gene and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in Jahrom City, Iran
BACKGROUND Transcription factor 7-like 2 (TCF7L2) is a transcription factor in the Wnt signaling pathway. High levels of TCF7L2 have been reported in most human tissues, including the heart, lung, brain, liver, kidney, placenta, adipose tissues, and pancreatic β-cells. The purpose of this study was to assess the association between TCF7L2 polymorphisms (rs12255372 and rs7903146) and type 2 diab...

Background and aims: Dyslipidemia is one of the major factors implicated in the development of the vascular complications of diabetes. In this study, it was evaluated the association between serum lipids profile and Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) in type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, the serum lipid profile and...
متن کاملtranscription factor 7-like 2 polymorphism and context-specific risk of metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, and dyslipidemia
background: the transcription factor 7-like 2 gene (tcf7l2) is an element of the wnt signaling pathway. there is lack of evidence if tcf7l2 has a functional role in lipid metabolism and regulation of the components constitutes the metabolic syndrome (metsyn).the aims of this study were to evaluate whether the risk allele of tcf7l2 gene polymorphism is associated with dyslipidemia and metsyn. ma...

OBJECTIVE Genetic polymorphisms of the transcription factor 7-like 2 (TCF7L2) gene is one of the few validated genetic variants with large effects on the risk of type 2 diabetes in the populations of European ancestry. In this study, we aimed to explore the effect of the TCF7L2 polymorphisms in a Han Chinese population. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS We genotyped 20 single nucleotide polymorphis...
